Every written paper and every presentation you write during your studies builds on existing academic discourse, as part of which you develop your own position. Your task is to make it clear which ideas you have taken from others and which are your own.
References to sources are provided both in the text and in the bibliography and list of works cited. The formal requirements depend on the citation style. There are a variety of citation styles, not least due to the variety of academic disciplines.
The following citation rules apply at the Lucerne University of Teacher Education and the University of Lucerne:
- “Handout Quellenangaben” (Lucerne University of Teacher Education) (in German only)
- “Studienleitfaden Wissenschaftliches Schreiben” (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Lucerne) (in German only)
- “Leitfaden für schriftliche Arbeiten ” (Faculty of Economics, University of Lucerne) (in German only)
- “Leitfaden zum Verfassen einer juristischen Arbeit” (Faculty of Law, University of Lucerne) (in German only)
